Seized in Belfast motel room: 100 bags of heroin, oxycodone

    BELFAST — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has arrested Asgard Tarik Gilbert, 39, and Anna Congdon, 24,  both of Belfast, and charged them with trafficking in scheduled drugs (heroin), according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

    At approxmiately 6 p.m. July 10, MDEA agents, along with Belfast police and Maine State Police troopers, served a search warrant on a room at a motel in East Belfast, where Gilbert and Congdon were staying. During the search police allegedly found 100 bags of heroin, 36 oxycodone pills, digital scales and $1,000 in cash. Drug agents say the couple was intending to sell the heroin in Waldo County, the release said.  

    Both were taken to the Waldo County Jail, where bail was set at $250 for Congdon and $10,000 for Gilbert.  The investigation continues and further arrests are expected, police said.
