Summer Theater Camp to perform Jack and the Beanstock, July 13

CAMDEN — What happens when a young boy plants Wonder Beans in his own backyard? For Jack, it is the beginning of a great adventure. Audiences are invited to come along Saturday, July 13, at 3 p.m. when the Missoula Children’s Theatre and more than 50 local students present “Jack and the Beanstalk” at Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St.

The fully staged show, with music accompanied by Joani Mitchell of Rockland, is the culmination of the week-long Summer Theater Camp led by MCT. This is the second summer Camden Opera House has brought the acclaimed theater training program to town, supported by the opera house’s Community Arts Fund.

The cast, upcoming first graders to high schoolers, and MCT tour actor/directors Emma Mansfield and Raven Whitefawn will present the show after just a week of intense preparation.

Tickets to the performance are $10, available via camdenoperahouse.com starting Tuesday morning, July 2; and at the box office 2:30 p.m. day of show. Seating is general admission. For more information, call the box office at 236-3154.

The classic fairytale was adapted by Jim Caron, with music and lyrics by Michael McGill.
