This from Knox County Emergency Management Agency, circulated at 4 p.m. Overnight Emergency Shelter:  The Red Cross is opening an overnight shelter at the Camden Hills Regional High School, 25 Keelson Drive in Rockport.  Preparations are being made for a 6 p.m. opening.  Enter doors by athletic director’s office (around the north side of the building). Residents requiring emergency overnight sheltering should bring “go kit” items including identification, essential medications and equipment, personal items, etc.  The shelter is expected to be pet-friendly.

CMP, Maine DOT, Local Public Works and Fire Departments are working together to clear tree, road and powerline issues across Knox County.  CMP has established a supply base at the Union Fairgrounds to bring needed restoration equipment closer to the local and loaned line crews working affected areas. The utility expects to make significant restoration progress over the next 24 hours.

Important Road Closure:  Southbound Rte 1 between Buttermilk Lane and the intersection with Old County Road; Locally known as the Dragon Flats, Thomaston Police Department made this emergency closure to protect the public from a series of utility poles damaged in last night’s storm.
