SEARSPORT — Four musicians converge Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Hey Sailor’s Starboard Lounge, to perform in the Nashville tradition of a “songwriters’ round,'' in which a group of writers perform in a round-robin style sharing original songs and some of the stories behind them. A variety of voices will be represented in this offering: Doug Kolmar, Kate Fiano, Cryin’ Caleb Aaron, Halley Ellwell. 

Sara Trunzo, a songwriter, community organizer, and the host of WERU’s Country & Northeastern, will host. 

Cryin’ Caleb Aaron is a Honky-Tonkin’ one-man-band, mixing tragedy and twang in the wilds of Auburn. His passions lie with the lonesome and the lo-fi.

Halley Ellwell is an award-winning songwriter originally from Hallowell. She is currently recording her next project, Spontaneous Mutation, which was recently awarded a New Music Creator Fund Grant by New Music USA.

Singer/songwriter Doug Kolmar explores the beauty and trouble of our inner and outer worlds with compassion, wit, and insight. He has released four full-length solo albums and his songs have been recognized with awards from The Music to Life Foundation, International Acoustic Music Awards, American Songwriter, and Maine Songwriters Association. 

Kate Fiano is a singer-songwriter and public school music teacher currently living in Maine. Fiano has released 2 albums, “Finding the Brighter Side” in 2008 and “Revolution” in 2012. Fiano has taken many stages in New England and California. She holds a B.S. in Music Education from UVM and a Masters in Music from CSU East Bay. Since moving to Maine she has been writing new songs and performing throughout the Midcoast.

Shows will be ongoing on the third Thursday of each month. Tickets are available now for $5 at the door. Food and drink will be available for purchase. 

Upcoming shows include September 19: Kelly Ravin, Seth Gallant, Chris Ross, and Sara Trunzo; October 17: Kate McCann, Tom Peabody, Matthew Hawkins, and Justin Gordon; November 21: John & Rachel Nichols, Draudiga, Nolle Bond, and Andre Lascoutx; and December 19: Dylan Metrano, Jason Roman, Carole Wise, Kayla Wass.

The series has been running since May and previously hosted talented Maine and touring songwriters such as Laurie Jones, Skip Guptill, Lisa Redfern, Alyssa Kelly, Stella Prince, Juniper Ginger, George Loring, and Alice Limoges.
