UPDATE: Multiple law enforcement agencies searching Rockland for suspect bank robber

    ROCKLAND – The Rockland Police Department posted the following information on its Facebook page:

    At  approximately 2 p.m., July 31, Rockland Police responded to a robbery at the Bangor Savings Bank on Camden Street. The suspect was wearing a bandanna and sunglasses. No weapons were displayed and a note was given to the teller demanding money.

    At this time, a person of interest has been identified but no one has been charged. Detectives from the Rockland Police Department, along with members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations continue to investigate the incident.

    Rockland Police Department would like to thank the Knox County Sheriff's Office - Maine, Camden Maine Police Department, Rockport Maine Police Department, Maine Department of Marine Resources,Thomaston Maine Police Department and Rockland Maine Fire & EMS Department who all responded to assist. During this incident, officers and detectives from these agencies assisted with searching for the suspect, conducting interviews and assisted with other calls for service in Rockland during this time; including several unrelated intoxication and disorderly complaints.

     

    ROCKLAND – Traffic is moving slowly along Camden Street (Route 1) at Rockland’s north end as police search for a man who allegedly slipped a Bangor Savings Bank teller a note, demanding money.

    The suspect ran from the bank, which is across the street from McDonald’s in Rockland, and police began their pursuit.

    Law enforcement has spread out through the area checking various locations.
