BELFAST — Money is being raised for Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County at the annual Habitat Lobster Gala on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 12 - 3 p.m., at Steamboat Landing (next to the Belfast Boathouse), rain or shine under the tents.

Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County is committed to the belief that everyone deserves safe, decent, and efficient housing on terms they can afford.

“We have built and sold five homes in Waldo County over the past 12 years and are in the process of finishing construction of house number six in Prospect,” said Habitat, in a news release.

Habitat is also finishing construction and readying to open a ReStore on Route 3 in Belfast, past the Hutchinson Center.

“With our own ReStore facility, built and staffed with the help of volunteers, we will have a resource providing funds to work toward constructing a home every year, instead of every other year,” said the release. “The ReStore will also provide affordable home improvement products, appliances and furnishings, along with saving tons of debris from our area transfer stations by selling items that might otherwise have been discarded.”

Get a lobster, clam or a steak dinner, with chips, corn on the cob, Cole slaw and a homemade dessert for $40 or hamburger, hot dog, or veggie burger plates with chips, Cole slaw and a homemade dessert for $18.

Listen to the music of Anni & the Rainmakers, a rocking blues band, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
