ROCKPORT — The next program in the Rockport Public Library’s red-hot “foodie” series is entitled, “Cookie Crazy: The Spectacular Seven.” This adults-only cookie tasting extravaganza will be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 6 p.m. in the library’s lower level. There will be a limit of 40 participants. Call 207-230-4703 to sign up.
 
Wondering what’s new in the cookie-verse? Plenty, according to RPL, in a news release. Rosemary Shortbread, Triple Ginger Zingers, Brown Butter Pistachio Drops, Hot Honey Nutty Bars, Balsamic Blueberry Jammies, and so many more.

“These are NOT your grandma’s cookies!,” says Gin Mackey, host of the event. “From sweet to savory to oh-so-spicy, these cookies are not just for dessert anymore.”

“Join Mackey for a tasty tour of some surprising and scrumptious homemade treats — the ones she calls ‘The Spectacular Seven,’” said RPL.
 
Cookie connoisseur Gin Mackey and her husband planned to move to Portland, Maine 10 years ago. They overshot the mark and landed in Midcoast Maine, where they’ve been thanking their lucky stars ever since. Mackey loves to bake sweet treats, in real life and in the fictional worlds she creates. She is the author of Last Chance Church and Restaurant, the story of an outsider joining forces with a motley team of Mainers in a mission-impossible attempt to save their dying midcoast village by creating a wondrous destination restaurant from an abandoned church. Copies of the book will also be available for purchase at the event.
