Thomaston road closures on July 4, 2024

    Thomaston PD has posted the following 2024 Fourth of July road closures to its Facebook page. 
     
    On Thursday July 4, 2024, the following road closures will occur due to Independence Day festivities:
     
    7:30AM Beechwood Street from Valley St. to Erin St.

    8:15AM until completion of road races:
    Beechwood Street from Valley St. to Dunbar Road.

    Parade participants, please use the Main Street entrance to Erin Street to access the parade staging area. You will not be able to access Erin Street from Beechwood Street.

    10:45AM until completion of the Fourth of July Parade: Main Street (U.S. Rt. 1) from Fish Street to Wadsworth Street. Detours will be in effect for the duration of the road closure.

    “The key to a successful day is to plan ahead,” said TPD. “Be forewarned that no vehicular traffic will be allowed to enter the closed roadways during these events. There will be no exceptions. This is to ensure the safety of all participants, which is our primary responsibility. Thank you for your cooperation. Bring your smile, patience and good attitude and everyone will have a great Independence Day!”

    On-street parking is prohibited on Thursday, July 4, 2024, on several streets in the vicinity of festival events. Vehicles parked in the following areas, to include both sides of the street unless otherwise noted, will be subject to tow at the vehicle owners: 

    Main Street
    Fish Street
    Thatcher Street
    Knox Street
    Wadsworth Street
    Erin Street
    Booker Street between Main & Valley Streets
    Valley Street
    Hyler Street (North side only)
    Gleason Street (North side only)
    Roxbury Street

    A friendly reminder that personal use fireworks are illegal to use in Thomaston.
