Vehicle on side causes brief detour of south Main Street traffic

ROCKLAND — Rockland’s Main Street, at the intersection of Pleasant Street, was closed to traffic for approximately 30 minutes July 2 after a vehicle landed on its side in the middle of the roadway.

No injuries were reported, but the driver was arrested for OUI, according to Police Sgt. Scott Redmun.

Though police were still trying to piece together what triggered the incident, they were able to determine that when the silver vehicle lost control, it somehow snagged a blue car that was parked in a parking spot. Because of the snag, the silver vehicle’s right-side tires were lifted off of the pavement, causing the vehicle to tip onto its side.

Three police officers responded to the incident, as did Rockland Fire and EMS. Camden Exxon hauled away the silver vehicle.
