John Howard Larrabee II, obituary

Mon, 02/20/2023 - 8:00pm

John Howard Larrabee II, 23, of Knox, Maine, became heaven's newest angel on February 03, 2023, when he lost his battle with mental illness.

John grew up in Belmont, Maine, where he discovered an amazing love for nature and wildlife. He saw the beauty in everything from wildlife to clouds in the sky capturing it all through the lens of a camera.

John graduated from Belfast Area High School in 2017, and went to work at Wallace Moving Company, where he continued to work until shortly before he was sadly called home.

He loved going for walks daily, and enjoyed listening to his favorite bands including Gorillaz, AC/DC, tool, and Seether.

John loved visiting his sister, Rachel Larrabee, at their Nana Moores’ house. He also loved picking on Rachel via text, phone call, or in person. He really loved spending time with his sister, raising hell and singing songs.

Sadly on February 3, 2023, our sweet John couldn't handle the pain of his mental illness any longer and he took his own life. He leaves behind a devastated family who wants everyone to understand the pain of mental illness. John was a sweet man, with a sweet soul he will be missed and forever loved.

John is survived by his mother, Amanda Moores and fiance Barry Boulter, of Knox, Maine; his father John Larrabee, of Belmont, Maine; his little sister, Rachel Larrabee, of Swanville, Maine, was his partner in crime and sidekick; his grandmothers Delores Moores, of Swanville Maine, and Barbara Larrabee of Searsport, Maine; too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to mention.

He is preceded by paternal and maternal grandfathers Ernest Moores and Shirley Larrabee; uncle Joseph Aubut; and his cousin Ashley Hall.

Services for John will be on February 25, 2023, at  Freedom Congregational Church followed by a gathering after the service.

John's mother wants to send out a special message that if anyone is struggling with mental illness: You aren't alone, reach out to someone and please talk about it. There are people that love and care about you even if you don't feel it to be true. You aren't alone.
