The Rebels: A Tom Petty Tribute plays The Waldo, Aug. 10

WALDOBORO — The Waldo is ready to rock the Midcoast with The Rebels: A Tom Petty Tribute on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m.

The Rebels, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band, is made up of five seasoned musicians from Massachusetts with decades of experience between them.

“Tom Petty has been a major influence on my singing, guitar-playing, songwriting- all of it.” says lead singer Mike Golarz, in a Waldo Theatre news release. “He was just such a talented musician that wrote so many great songs that we love to play as a band, then we get to share that same energy with a crowd.”

The Rebels don’t rely on impersonations but rather on performing the songs and the authentic sounds of the legendary music of Tom Petty. Their energetic performances are played with the intensity and spirit in which they were intended.

“To the audiences' delight, their song selection spans the entire Tom Petty catalog,” said the Waldo. “No gimmicks here, just rock and roll like it's meant to be.”

Online tickets are available for $25 in advance, $30 the day of the event. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m., and concessions, including beer and wine will be available for purchase.
