Forrest Gump to be screened at Strand Theatre, Aug. 22

ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre will present the movie Forrest Gump (1994) on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., as part of its Jubilee Film Series, which celebrates acclaimed films that have anniversaries in 2024.

In the film, slow-witted Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother (Sally Field) he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save — his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).

    The film is rated PG-13.

Tickets are $9/General Admission, $8/Senior and Under 12, $7/Strand Members, and will be available at the box office 30 minutes prior to show time. Beer and wine are available at concessions.
