    Thursday, July 1, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Preview Event for Camden Shakespeare Festival’s Play “Aquitania.” Stephen Legawiec, playwright and creative director of the Camden Shakespeare Festival, presents an online preview program about his play “Aquitania,” which will be performed in the Camden Amphitheatre this summer. To request a Zoom link to attend, email jpierce@librarycamden.org.

    Friday, July 2, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Explorations Read Aloud: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Local thespian Joseph Coté will read aloud selections from Mark Twain’s novel. In the story from 1889, a quintessential self-reliant New Englander brings to King Arthur’s Age of Chivalry the “great and beneficent” miracles of nineteenth-century engineering and American ingenuity. New readings become available to watch every Friday at 11:00 am in the “videos” section of the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.

    FridayJuly 2, 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Free Historic Walking Tour of Camden. Meet in the Camden Public Library’s Children’s Garden to enjoy a walking tour of several historic sites in downtown Camden. Ends at the Village Green. Free, donations accepted (to benefit the library). Appropriate for all ages. Moderate amount of walking required. 

    FridayJuly 2, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Online Chess Club. The chess club will be holding online matches every Friday. Members may also challenge other members at any time.     Sunday, July 4, 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Independence Day Concerts in the Camden Amphitheatre. Kicks off at 1:00 pm with a concert by a pop ensemble from Maine’s 195th Army National Guard Band. The Camden Rotary Club’s annual “Music by the Sea” celebration begins at 3:00 pm and will feature music from Midcoast Brass Quintet and The Right Track. Free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for comfortable seating.

    Monday, July 5, 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Sound Bathing and Gong Event. Enjoy the relaxing and transformative sound of gongs and chimes in the gorgeous Camden Amphitheatre. Musical instrument creator and Sound Therapist Jim Doble will create waves of sound to help participants sonically cleanse, rejuvenate, rest, and recuperate. Public wet-paint exhibit, followed by ticketed reception and auction on August 1 in the Camden Amphitheatre.
