Maine author Jane Sloven to discuss “Termination of Benefits” in Thomaston

THOMASTON — Join Maine author Jane Sloven for an evening of mystery and suspense at a live event Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the Thomaston Public Library. There is a strong possibility that she will also preview her forthcoming sequel, Fragment of Doubt. The Cushing Public Library is co-sponsoring this collaborative event, which is free and open to the public.

Sloven’s love of mysteries, particularly those with a female protagonist, began when she read the Nancy Drew series. Termination of Benefits, a murder mystery set in Portland, features Sarah Green, a lawyer-turned-counselor. Sarah is very skilled at helping her clients unravel their emotional dilemmas, but isn’t as successful with her own. When a psychopath begins to stalk Maine’s counseling community, Sarah struggles to separate past trauma from present danger. She joins forces with a take-no-prisoners attorney, a top-notch private investigator, and her office mate Louise, to find the killer. Will they catch the murderer before he strikes again?

Sloven is a psychotherapist and retired attorney. She graduated from American University with a BA in Literature, New England School of Law with a JD, and the University of Connecticut with an MSW. She is also the co-author of and anthology of essays, Compassionate Journey: Honoring Our Mothers’ Stories. Sloven lives in Portland with her husband.
