a judgment-free space where young people can speak openly

Local youth invited to join empowering roundtable dinner on teen dating violence

ROCKLAND — On Monday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m., The Landing Place, in Rockland, will host a collaborative roundtable dinner designed to provide local youth with a safe and open environment to discuss and learn about Teen Dating Violence.

This event is supported by a partnership between The Landing Place at Homeworthy, The Coastal Recovery Community Center, New Hope Midcoast, and the Knox Clinic, bringing together community resources to empower and educate young people.

The roundtable discussion, facilitated by experienced advocates from New Hope Midcoast, will cover a range of topics related to healthy relationships and dating violence. Youth participants will have the opportunity to engage in an informal and supportive dialogue addressing their concerns and questions.

Topics to be discussed include:

● Does jealousy mean someone loves you?
● Understanding underage abuse and mandated reporting
● Recognizing coercive control, especially in LGBTQ+ relationships
● Your rights around sex and relationships
● Should you share passwords with your dating partner?
● Identifying cultural messaging that may mislead about what is acceptable in relationships

This event is designed to foster a judgment-free space where young people can speak openly, learn from one another, and gain valuable insights into building safe and equal relationships. The organizers encourage all local youth to attend and take advantage of this empowering opportunity.

The roundtable dinner will be held at The Landing Place, located at 61 Park Street in Rockland. Refreshments will be provided.
