Living History with Hank Lunn to share the story of an American Loyalist

Event has passed

WARREN — The Warren Historical Society will host a Living History program by Hank Lunn on John Lunn, an American Loyalist, Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., at The Old Brick School Community Center, 44 School St., in Warren (behind the Warren Baptist Church on Main Street).

This is the story of John Lun (Lunn), American Loyalist 1775. In the spring of 1776, Boston was under siege by the American troops. General Howe, the British Commander, decided to evacuate Boston and move his headquarters to Halifax, Nova Scotia. A young American Loyalist, decided not to go to Halifax with his parents. Instead, the 16-year-old boy who believed fervently that it was wrong to rebel against the king, joined the Prince of Wales American Regiment to fight for his king.

John fought battles in Connecticut, New York, and the southern theater of war. Through it all, he remained healthy and never was wounded. His company was mustered out of the army in 1783, he sailed to Canada, got married and started a new life in New Brunswick, Canada on land granted to veterans for their gallant service by King George III.

“The rest of the story….?” said Hank Lunn, in a Warren Historical Society. “I will be honored to tell you. He was my GGGGrandfather John Lunn.”
