FRIENDSHIP — Cynthia A. Lash, 74, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, in Rockport, Maine after a brief illness.

Cindy was born in Rockland, Maine on February 5, 1950, and was raised in Friendship, Maine. She spent the summers of her youth on local Crotch Island helping her mother, participating in activities, and competing in archery with other campers where she won awards. She attended local schools and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1968.

Shortly after graduating she met her husband, Wesley A. Lash, at his sister’s house, and they soon were married on April 11, 1969. They started a family and spent the next 44 years together. While raising her three sons she took care of many other children in her community before becoming the librarian where she spent 15 years.

Cindy loved and valued family above all else. She adored her children and grandchildren the most. Every year she looked forward to spending time with her family on Friendship Long Island, taking long rides with her husband in the boats they owned throughout the years, shopping trips with her lifelong friends, and long conversations.

She was well known by both her family and lifelong friends and neighbors for her smart wit and endless kindness toward all whom she encountered.

Cindy is predeceased by her mother, Loraine Duda; husband, Wesley A. Lash; grandson Brendan (Bubsy) Lash; and many aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her children Wesley D. Lash and wife Taryn of Friendship, Sean Lash of Friendship, David Lash and wife Deborah Vannah of Washington; her grandchildren Elizabeth Lash, Bailey Lash, Wyatt Fillmore, Brooke Fillmore, Ian Vannah and Abigail Morin.

A private gathering will be held by immediate family and close friends at a later date.
