Knox County Criminal Docket closed cases

    ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from Jan. 14-24.

    Dillon J.A. Ames, 27, of Searsport, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer on Vinalhaven Dec. 12, 2020, $600 restitution, seven days in jail; forgery on Vinalhaven Dec. 12, 2020, seven days in jail.

    Carlton Elliott, 32, of Augusta, operating after habitual offender revocation, prior, in Rockland Sept. 2, 2020, $1,000 fine, six months in jail.

    Richard J. Ellis, 34, of Camden, assault in Union Feb. 24, 2021, $300 fine, 30 days in jail.

    Zachary Genthner, 30, of Jefferson, operating after habitual offender revocation, with a prior, in Washington Aug. 8, 2020, $1,000 fine, six months in jail.

    Shayne M. Hathaway, 33, of Augusta, violating condition of release in Appleton Aug. 23, 2019, $450 fine, all suspended, seven days in jail.

    Zachary Lankist, 29, of Old Town, gross sexual assault in Rockland April 1, 2021, 12 years in prison with all but five years suspended, probation four years; sexual exploitation of a minor in Old Town April 1, 2021, three years in prison (concurrent sentence.) Lankist was sentenced Jan. 20 in Knox County Court by Justice John Martin.

    The conditions of Lankist’s probation include a complete evaluation, counseling and treatment for a sex offender and not having any contact with male and female children under the age of 16 years, directly or indirectly, except his daughter, according to the court document. Additionally, he cannot possess any electronic devices that can access the internet and comply with SORNA (Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act)

    Lankist was arrested July 19, 2021, by Rockland Police for assaulting a juvenile girl, younger than 14, who he met online.  

    The arrest came after an investigation into a reported sexual assault that occurred earlier in 2021 in Rockland. During the investigation, it was learned that a juvenile, under the age of 14, had met Lankist using an online messaging app.

    The juvenile and Lankist later met in person, where the assault took place, police said.  

    Rockland Police were assisted in the investigation by members of the Old Town Police Department, Bangor Police Department, Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, and Maine State Police Evidence Response Team.

    Terry Laukka, 65, of Warren, operating all-terrain vehicle under the influence in Warren June 5, 2021, $400 fine.

    Sheri McPherson, 52, of Temple, violating protection from abuse order in Rockland Sept. 14, 2021, 364 days in jail with all but 60 days suspended, probation one year; violating protection from abuse order in Rockland Oct. 4, 2021, 60 days in jail; terrorizing in Rockland Sept. 14, 2021, 60 days in jail.

    Daniel Mochen, 39, of Norridgewock, aggravated assault in Warren Feb. 5, 2019, in Warren, five years in prison with all but 15 months suspended, probation three years; domestic violence assault, three counts, in Warren May 23, 2019, Aug. 15, 2019, and Sept. 2, 2019, six months in jail.

    Carmen L. Olan, 43, of Owls Head, domestic violence assault in Rockland Aug. 22, 2021, in Rockland; criminal trespass in Rockland Aug. 22, 2021, $200 fine; criminal threatening in Rockland Aug. 22, 2021, $200 fine, all suspended.

    Jared Morton Paradee, 43, of Rockland, violating protection from abuse order in Rockland Oct. 31, 2021, 48 hours jail.

    Joel F. Swain, 45, of St. George, tampering with a witness, informant, juror or victim in Rockland July 15, 2020, two years in jail all suspended, probation two years.

    Angela Taylor, 26, of Camden, violating condition of release in Camden Jan. 2, 2022, 48 hours in jail.

    Laci Tower, 27, of Warren, operating under the influence (alcohol) on July 22, 2021, $500 fine, 72 hours in jail, license suspended 150 days.

    Dale S. Whitman, 56, of Appleton, operating under the influence (alcohol) in Appleton Aug. 1, 2021, dismissed; driving to endanger in Appleton Aug. 1, 2021, $575 fine.

    Jason E. Wotton, 48, of Friendship, violating condition of release in Rockland Dec. 16, 2021, 60 days in jail.

    Seth M. Young, 23, of Camden, operating under the influence (alcohol) in Rockland Aug. 23, 2021, $500 fine, 48 hours in jail, license suspended 150 days.

    Alexis K. Verruto, 28, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., operating under the influence (alcohol) in Rockport Sept. 12, 2021, $1,000 fine, license suspended 150 days.
