ROCKLAND — A Union man who allegedly assaulted hospital staff twice in the same day is being held without bail at the Knox County Jail in Rockland pending a bail revocation hearing.

Webster Robinson, 56, was first arrested Aug. 28 by Rockport Police after he reportedly punched a nurse in the throat with his fist at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport when he attempted to leave the hospital against medical advice. The nurse was assaulted when she tried to assist Robinson after he began falling into the chairs in the lobby.

He was transported to the jail and was released on the same day after he posted bail. He then returned to the emergency room at the hospital for a separate medical complaint of possible kidney stones, again became agitated, pulled out his intravenous line, causing bleeding, and threatened to stab two members of the clinical staff with the IV needle, according to the police affidavit filed in Knox County Court.

Robinson tried to smear blood on a hospital worker and told him he was an intravenous drug user, said police.

Rockport Police were again called to the hospital on Aug. 28. They arrested Robinson for a second time and transported him to the Knox County Jail where he remains due to a motion for a bail revocation hearing filed by Assistant District Attorney Christopher Fernald and approved by Judge John Martin.

Robinson made his initial appearance in Knox County Court Aug. 30. He has been charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, attempted assault, and violating a condition of release.

The date for the bail revocation hearing has not yet been scheduled as of Sept. 3.
