Collision between pickup truck, lawn mower causes street detours, call to reconstructionist

THOMASTON — Traffic along Route 1 through Thomaston has been diverted down side streets this afternoon while Thomaston Police wait for a crash reconstructionist to arrive.

Whenever a motor vehicle incident results in a serious injury, law enforcement agents are required to inform a State reconstructionist of that incident. Because no local reconstructionist could be obtained, Thomaston PD is relying on the assistance of someone out of Lincoln County.

Today’s request follows a crash Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., near Main and Erin streets, involving a pickup truck and a riding lawn mower. On-scene belief is that the operator aboard the mower had been on the pavement, attempting to cross Route 1, when the collision occurred. That operator of the mower was transported to the hospital with serious leg injuries. The pickup driver was uninjured.

Thomaston Police were assisted by Thomaston Fire and Ambulance (using a Rockland ambulance while the Thomaston rig undergoes repairs). All Fire and EMS personnel left the scene at 1:40 p.m.
