ROCKLAND — Wayne Scott Havener, 60, of Rockland, passed away unexpectedly due to health complications at Maine Medical Center on August 1, 2024.

Wayne was born on July 16, 1964, in Rockland, to Wendall and Pricilla Havener. He attended local schools growing up and graduated from Rockland District High School in 1983. He worked for Fisher Engineering for 14 years, then for a short two years at Hannaford cleaning and waxing floors, until his health took him out of the workforce permanently.

On July 31, 1990, Wayne’s first-born son Travis Havener was born, and on April 4, 2022 his second son, Ryley Havener, was born.

In his better years Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking car rides through the bog and mountains in Rockport, as well as having a cold beer after a long day’s work and spending time with his longtime friends Chris Colson, Floyd Firth, Michelle Colson, and Kempton Rich.

Wayne had a very large family who he loved wholeheartedly. One of the best days of his life was when his granddaughter Leah Havener was born.

Wayne is predeceased by his mother, Priscilla Havener; his son Travis Havener; his nephew William ‘Willie’ Havener Jr.; his niece Morgan Wadsworth; his great-niece Danielle Brochu-Havener; his maternal grandparents,
Edward and Francis Curtis, and his paternal grandparents, Hazel and Jessie Havener.

He is survived by his father, Wendall Havener of Rockland; his son Ryley Havener of Rockland; his brother William ‘Billy’ Havener and his companion Cathy Christie of Rockport; his sister Teresa Kaler of Rockland; his nieces Sarah Havener and her companion Martin Link of Cushing, Ashley Havener of Camden, Santa Havener of Augusta, Emilee Havener of Rockland, and Jazmyn Dennis of Rockport; his long-time companion, April Rawley and her two sons, Joe Gamage and Caleb O’Brien; one he considered like a daughter, Kayla Morris, and her two sons, Wesley and Waylen; and his beloved cat, Mario.

Wayne was a very happy-go-lucky man who was always smiling and would do anything for anyone. He is now with most of our family, but the rest of us will greatly miss him and his infectious laugh.

A celebration of Wayne’s life was held Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland, Maine.
