SPRUCE HEAD — The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of Flights of Fancy, an exhibition of fine art by Waldoboro artist Jean Kigel, on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., with live music provided by pianist Jim Vander Noot.

Kigel’s paintings are inspired by her aim to capture the magic of things she loves: the Maine ocean, its forests, and wildlife. Her mode of expression is to employ unfamiliar colors to familiar objects in order to reflect her subjective experiences.

Known for her expressive work, the artist’s work has been featured in notable exhibitions and publications globally. This year, Kigel’s painting appears on the poster for the Maine Lobster Festival.
