Linwood Lowell Moody, obituary

ROCKLAND — Linwood Lowell Moody, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2023 at the Breakwater Commons in Rockland. Born in Thomaston, he was the son of Clement L. and Evelyn Verge Moody.

Linwood grew up in the Thomaston area until graduating from Thomaston High School. After high school Linwood honorably served in the Coast Guard for four years.

He was the owner and operator of Moody Pontiac Buick in Rockland for over 20 years. He took pride in serving his community through the car dealership during his long career. After selling his dealership he moved on to work with Rockland Ford for many years.

Linwood was an avid sports fan and enjoyed his time coaching a pee wee basketball team in Thomaston, as well as volunteering for the Thomaston Fourth of July Committee. He was active in the Rockland Area Chamber of Commerce and a devoted member of the Kora Temple Shriners.

Linwood married June O. Moody on September 9, 1989. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening and cheering on their grandchildren in their respective sports teams.

Other than his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, June, who passed away in 2021.

Linwood is survived by his three daughters, Laurie, Tara and Chanda; June's children, Laura and Mike; as well as six grandchildren.
