This year’s En Plein artist for the 76th Garden Tour is Cassie Sano.

Sano lives in Augusta, and enjoys plein-air painting in both watercolor and oil. She considers living with so much natural beauty in her backyard a gift and an opportunity to create beautiful landscape art. She especially loves painting elements with a commanding presence such as mountains, rocks, boats, and architecture. She is inspired by strong shadow and light patterns as well as gardens with a variety of colors.

She teaches watercolor painting and is the writer and illustrator of several children’s story books. She is a member of the River Arts Gallery, Maine Art Gallery, Red Barn Gallery, Kennebec Art Association, and organizer of the Kennebec Valley Plein Air Painters.

You will find her painting in the open at one of the designated Tour locations during most of the day on July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
