“Taking Flight”

Karen Talbot Art Gallery to hold First Friday Artwalk event, Sept. 6

ROCKLAND — The Karen Talbot Art Gallery, at 239 Cedar Street, will be hosting a First Friday (September) Artwalk event, Sept. 6, showcasing the gallery show “Taking Flight.”

The show features award-winning artist Karen Talbot’s bird art, including some three-dimensional representations of birds. It also includes other species that “take flight,” such as sturgeon, tarpon, sharks, billfishes, and even a catfish.

Appetizers and drinks will be available on the Gallery deck (weather dependent from 5:30 to 8 p.m.).

Karen Talbot is a scientific illustrator and fine artist, who opened her Rockland gallery in 2013. Talbot’s work is found in books, museums, scientific journals, art galleries, and client’s homes.

“While she is best known for her work with fishes, Karen illustrates many natural history subjects with an eye toward conservation,” said a news release.

Original art, prints, books, and glassware will be available for purchase during the event.
