Making Midcoast Maine the Next Blue Zone panel event offered at Quarry Hill, Sept. 10

CAMDEN — Quarry Hill’s Awareness Series presents Making Midcoast Maine the Next Blue Zone, an educational event to be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Anderson Inn.

A panel of experts will highlight the nine basic tenets of “blue zones” — five specific regions in the world where people live longer than average and have lower rates of chronic disease. Discover the lifestyle indicators these places have in common and insights into practices that may enable us to live longer, healthier lives.

Panelists include Jamie Overlock, physical therapist at Pen Bay Medical Center; Grace Bingham Ott, licensed clinical social worker, private practice; Mackenzie Wing, registered dietician/licensed dietician, Waldo County General Hospital senior clinical dietitian; and Pauline Shyka, chaplain for Waldo County General Hospital.

Part of Quarry Hill’s ongoing enrichment series designed for adults aged 50 and better, the program is free, but advance registration is required. To sign up, please call Quarry Hill at 301-6116 or email qhinfo@mainehealth.org.
