ROCKPORT — The Rockport Public Library will be exhibiting art by South Hope resident Deb Vendetti, from July 2-30, in the library’s lower level. The show entitled “Graphite: Drawn To Maine and the Maritimes” will showcase over 35 years of Vendetti’s drawings, including picturesque and popular locations like Monhegan Island, Ducktrap in Lincolnville, and Johnson Bay in New Brunswick.

“I enter into a dialogue with the changing light and elemental forms of the Northeast coast,” says Vendetti, in a RPL news release. “My drawings and photographs have been informed by that quality of light, by atmospheric weather, and by the ever changing sky.” Vendetti explains that creating art is "my attempt to reconnect with prime experience, to acknowledge and reflect upon those fleeting moments of grace.”

Deb Vendetti was born and raised in Boston’s North End. She has been involved with the arts since moving to Maine in 1976 as an artist, teacher, and arts administrator. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout Maine as well as in New York and New Hampshire. She served as Education Coordinator at both the Farnsworth Art Museum (1987-1998) and Bay Chamber Concerts (1998-2001). Vendetti is a founding member of the Midcoast chapter of the Union of Maine Visual Artists.
