“Our role as educators is to remain relevant and flexible....The role of Maine citizens is to be involved”

Waldo County residents invited to annual meeting of Waldo County Extension Assoc., UMaine Cooperative Ext.

WALDO — The Waldo County Extension Association and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension invite interested Waldo County residents to attend the 2024 annual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at 5 p.m., at the Waldo County Extension Office, at 992 Waterville Rd., Rt 137, in Waldo.

This year’s meeting will focus on a brief presentation of Cooperative Extensions past, present, and future, Rural Living Day planning kick off and pie social followed by WCEA Business Meeting. Light refreshments will be available. Anyone interested in Cooperative Extension is invited to attend.

The Extension Association is made up of volunteers who work to further the mission of UMaine Extension; to help Maine people improve their lives through an educational process that uses research-based knowledge focused on issues and needs.

The Annual meeting of the association also includes elections of new members and officers and a review of the 2024 budget. The WCEA submits this budget to the Waldo County Commissioners and the County Budget Committee in the fall. As Extension engages in teaching and learning, we listen to our audiences across the state and revise our educational programs accordingly.

“Our role as university educators working in Maine communities is to remain relevant and flexible by teaching practical life skills and providing contemporary information,” said a news release. “The role of Maine citizens, as our partners, is to be involved, to supply feedback about what works and what we can improve, and to apply education in meaningful ways in their lives and communities. The County Executive Committee is that feedback mechanism in Waldo County. If you are interested, please attend the annual meeting and consider joining the Executive Committee.”
