Sen. Miramant shares MDOT work plan for Knox County projects

    AUGUSTA — Sen. David Miramant, D-Camden, is pleased to announce the details of Maine’s three-year transportation infrastructure work plan, and what it means for Senate District 12 which includes most of the towns of Knox County.

     The plan is released annually with an outline of the Maine Department of Transportation’s strategy for road, bridge and other transportation upgrades and maintenance projects.

    “As we all know, infrastructure is the backbone of our towns, communities and our great state,” said Sen. Miramant. “That is why I am very excited to see so many amazing projects coming to our district. Thanks to the hardworking men and women at the MDOT, our district and our state will benefit from the completion of these vital infrastructure projects, assuring we all have safe roads, bridges and much more.”

    According to the MDOT, the work plan covers approximately $3.17 billion worth of construction and maintenance, which includes 2,316 work items. The three-year plan estimates MDOT will invest in 115 miles of highway construction and rehabilitation; 1,057 miles of pavement preservation; 2,162 miles of light capital paving for roads and highways; 353 safety and spot improvements; and 235 bridge projects.

    The following breakdown is the planned capital and maintenance work for some communities in Senate District 12 in 2022. The entire MDOT three-year work plan can be viewed here.

     

    Aviation:

    ●      In Owls Head, at the Knox County Regional Airport safety and infrastructure improvements that may include the acquisition of snow removal equipment.

     

    Bridge Rehabilitation:

    ●      In Camden, bridge replacement on Spring Brook Bridge (#2794) over Spring Brook. Located 0.94 of a mile southwest of the Lincolnville town line. Project funding is contingent on Congressionally Designated Spending approval.

    ●      In Camden, bridge replacement on Great Brook Bridge (#2326) over Great Brook. Located 0.05 of a mile south of Dyer Drive. Project funding is contingent on Congressionally Designated Spending approval.

    ●      In Camden, work on Rawson Avenue Bridge (#3173) over Megunticook River. Located 0.05 of a mile southwest of Washington Street.

    ●      In Camden, bridge removal on Rawson Avenue Pedestrian Bridge over Megunticook River. Located 0.05 of a mile southwest of Washington Street.

    ●      In Rockport, work on Rockport Bridge (#2724) over Goose River. Located 0.03 of a mile north of High Street.

    ●      In Thomaston, Warren, James Andrew Griffith Bridge (#2786) over St. George River. Located on the Warren-Thomaston town line.

    ●      In Vinalhaven, repairing piers on Lanes Island Bridge (#5270) in Vinalhaven which carries Lanes Island Road over Tidal Flow. Located 315 feet south of the Round The Mountain Road.

    ●      In Warren, work on Fuller Bridge (#3784) over Fuller Brook. Located 0.25 of a mile north of the North Pond Road.

    ●      In Warren, St. George River Bridge (#5654) over St. George River. Located 0.04 of a mile southwest of Company Lane.

     

    Highway Paving/Rehabilitation:

    ●      In Appleton, Union, Searsmont and Belmont highway paving beginning at Route 17 and extending north 15.44 miles to Route 3 on Route 131.

    ●      In Appleton, Camden, Hope, highway paving beginning at Route 131 and extending southeast 11.3 miles to Route 1 on Route 105.

    ●      In Belfast, Camden, Lincolnville and Northport highway paving beginning 0.68 of a mile south of the Lincolnville town line and extending north 14.00 miles on Route 52.

    ●      In Camden, highway paving beginning 0.68 of a mile south of the Lincolnville town line and extending north 14 miles on Route 52.

    ●      In Camden and Hope, highway paving beginning at Hatchet Mountain Road and extending southeast 7.02 miles to Route 1 on Barnes Town Road.

    ●      In Camden, highway paving beginning 0.56 of a mile north of Sagamore Farm Road and extending north 1.54 miles on Route 1. Project funding is contingent on Congressionally Designated Spending approval.

    ●      In Camden, Rockport, highway paving beginning at Route 1 and extending north 2.21 miles to Route 1 on Pascal Avenue.

    ●      In Owls Head, highway paving beginning at Dublin Road and extending north 1.67 miles to North Shore Drive on Ash Point Drive.

    ●      In Owls Head, highway paving beginning at Ash Point Drive and extending west 0.18 of a mile to Route 73 on North Shore Road.

    ●      In Owls Head, highway paving beginning at Ash Point Drive and extending northeast 4.91 miles on North and South Shore Road.

    ●      In Owls Head, South Thomaston, highway paving beginning at Route 73 and extending east 2.15 miles to Ash Point Drive on Dublin Road.

    ●      In Rockland, highway paving beginning at Route 1 in Rockland and extending south 0.90 of a mil on Route 73

    ●      In Rockland, Rockport, Warren, highway paving beginning 0.20 of a mile north of Mountain Road and extending north 7.19 miles on Route 90.

    ●      In Saint George, highway paving beginning 0.03 of a mile south of Factory Road and extending north 4.28 miles on Route 131.

     

    Large Culvert Improvements:

    ●      In Appleton, Camden and Hope, ditching and replacing of culverts in various places on Route 105, beginning with the intersection of Route 131 and Route 105 and extending southeast 11.28 miles to Route 1 on Route 105.

    ●      In Cushing, culverts replacement on (#95702, #95706, #95714) on River Road in Cushing.

     

    Highway Safety and Spot Paving:

    ●      In Camden, highway safety improvements on Route 1 located 0.03 of a mile northeast of Harden Avenue.

    ●      In Rockland, pedestrian safety improvements at the intersections of Route 1, Route 1A, and Maverick Street.

    ●      In Thomaston, the construction of multi-use pathway across Mill River to connect existing walking and biking trails to the east-bank residential district.

    ●      In Union, Large culvert (#46462) located 0.06 of a mile east of Town House Road.

    ●      In Warren, Large culvert (#46645) located 0.06 of a mile north of the Waldoboro town line.

    ●      In Warren, beginning 0.09 of a mile east of Western Road and extending east 0.25 of a mile.
