John Fromer to lead Merryspring presentation: Preparing the Garden for Winter

CAMDEN — John Fromer will lead an outdoor presentation on Preparing the Garden for Winter, Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
The growing season is progressing and it’s almost time to clean up the perennial garden. But how?
John Fromer will lead a talk on preparing your perennial garden for the winter. Why do you need to prepare the garden for winter? How and when should you cut plants back? Should you cut plants back? When should you plant fall bulbs? When is the latest to divide and transplant or plant newly purchased plants? Do you feed plants in the fall? Should you do a soil test in the fall? What about weeding? Are there other activities that should be done in the fall?
This talk will include a walk through the gardens at Merryspring.
