Poetry/video/installation experience at Belfast library, Sept. 21

BELFAST — SoundBone Media and Barbaria Maria present a poetry/video/installation experience, Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m., in the Abbott Room, centered around Maria’s 2024 long-form poem, “Celestial Earth.”

Visuals will appear in the full room from six galaxy projectors along with a soundscape recorded by Lincoln Clapp.

The gallery atmosphere preceding the main event will include poetry videos and silent images created by the conceptual artist on four screens around the room of works previously presented only once or twice before: When She Became a Buffalo (2012); Since We Can’t Go Back (2015); and Convergence (2016), videos also based on the poetry of Barbaria Maria. The videos are subtitled for the hearing impaired, but “Celestial Earth” will occur in darkness.

The Belfast Free Library is located at 106 High Street (at Miller Street). The event starts at 7 p.m. and runs an hour and a half to two hours.

Admission is Free. A chapbook with the four featured poems will be available by donation.
