Goosepecker Trekker hike, picnic in Montville, Oct. 5

MONTVILLE — All are invited to join Midcoast Conservancy friends and staff for a hike in the Sheepscot River headwaters area in Montville on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After a hike in the Whitten Hill Preserve, participants are invited to stay for lunch from the grill and some local beer. Potluck side dishes are welcome; hot dogs, tofu pups and vegetarian mains and chips will be provided by Midcoast Conservancy. Anyone may feel free to skip the hike and join the group for lunch at noon if that fits their schedule best.

The route being offered this year is a two-mile hike led by Bob Kohl, local trail builder, and Midcoast Conservancy Board member Buck O’Herin. The hike goes through areas with beautiful mature forest, part of 1700 acres of contiguous protected land. There will be an opportunity to hear about the conservation vision for the region and ongoing collaborative work with neighboring Sebasticook Regional Land Trust, co-sponsors of this event.
