Annual memorial for Revolutionary War hero Major General Henry Knox, July 27

THOMASTON — The annual memorial service to honor the life of Revolutionary War hero Major General Henry Knox will take place Saturday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the Thomaston Village Cemetery. 

The Maine and New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution and Col. Henry Knox Regimental Colors Guards will begin the ceremony with a Revolutionary War period color guard. Brigadier General (Ret.) William J. Leszczynski, Jr., will be the speaker this year and will give a short presentation about General Henry Knox.

“A Toast to the Flag” will be recited by Christpher Tourtellot, followed by closing of the service with taps by bugler, Christopher Stickney.

Following the memorial service at the cemetery, there will be a reception at the General Henry Knox Museum, 30 High Street, Thomaston, with a BBQ, birthday cake, crafts and kid’s games and more in celebration of Henry Knox’s birthday.

This annual event is jointly sponsored by the Thomaston Historical Society and the General Henry Knox Museum.
