ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre’s monthly Family Matinee Series will screen A Bug’s Life (1998) on Saturday, July 27, at 3 p.m. The matinee series presents favorite family films from yesterday and today, screened on the last weekend of every month. Tickets are $5 for all.

In A Bug’s Life, Flik (Dave Foley) is an inventive ant who's always messing things up for his colony. His latest mishap was destroying the food stores that were supposed to be used to pay off grasshopper Hopper (Kevin Spacey). Now the strong-arming insect is demanding that the ants gather double the food – or face annihilation. To avert disaster, Flik goes on a journey to recruit fighters to defend the colony. When he stumbles upon a bumbling troupe of circus bugs instead, their only hope for victory is the bond of friendship and the power of imagination.

The Strand Family Series is made possible thanks to the supporting sponsor, the Rockland Harbor Hotel.

A Bug’s Life is rated G, and has a running time of 1 hour 39 minutes.

Tickets are $5/General Admission, and will be available at the lobby box office 30 minutes prior to show time.

The Strand Theatre is located at 345 Main Street, Rockland.
