Innovative guitarist caps Blue Café season, Sept. 22

    CAMDEN — Camden Opera House’s Blue Café series will close its 2023 season Friday night, Sept. 22. Doors will open 7 p.m. and innovative classical guitarist David Rogers will perform at 7:30 p.m. 

    David Rogers will present an evening of Spanish music, up-tempo Latin, songs by The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Rolling Stones, Roxy Music and Cheap Trick, as well as jazz works by Carla Bley, music by J.S. Bach and original compositions. 

    As lead guitarist with the Terra Nova Consort, Rogers has toured North America and Europe extensively. He has recorded for Dorian, Callisto and Focus Recordings, and conducted master classes throughout North America. He often tells humorous stories about the music during his concerts.   

    There is no admission or reservations, although donations to the sponsoring Community Arts Fund are welcomed. 

    The Blue Café, on the opera house’s third floor, holds about 50 seats, with an adjacent refreshment lounge. Entrance is via the opera house’s elevator lobby door at 29 Elm St. 

     

    On Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m., Once an Outlaw will fill the opera house’s auditorium with Southern Rock. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day-of-show, via camdenoperaho use.com.
