ROCKPORT and BELFAST — Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital welcome Tyson Thornton, PharmD, BCPS, MBA-H, FACHE, as their new vice president of operations. Thornton joined the team on Monday, Aug. 14.

Thornton comes to PBMC and WCGH from Northern Light Health, where he served as vice president of Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) in Pittsfield. In that role, he was responsible for pharmacy, facilities, security, EVS, nutritional services, imaging, respiratory therapy and laboratory among other areas.

“Tyson’s experience with a two-facility local health system dynamic similar to PBMC and WCGH, as well as his commitment to both community and team member engagement, parallels beautifully with what we are seeking for our organization at this time,” said Denise Needham, PharmD, president of PBMC and WCGH, in a news release.

Thornton previously served as associate vice president of support services at SVH and as director of pharmacy and outpatient infusion services before that. He started his career as a pharmacist at Eastern Maine Medical Center after earning his doctor of pharmacy at the University of Connecticut in 2006.
