Thomaston Grammar School Spring Fine Arts Night was an amazing night

Thu, 06/06/2024 - 5:00pm

Our annual TGS Spring Fine Arts Night was held on Thursday, May 30. What an amazing night full of music and art!

There was art hung throughout the building featuring a variety of items: penguins, pumpkins, spiders, balloon dogs, sunflowers, hearts and more. There was also a Glow Gallery in the art room where there was amazing glowing artwork made from paper and clay, including: butterflies, skateboards, crowns, and more. There was a sea of beautiful artwork here at TGS.

The evening began with our kindergarten through 2nd grade concert. Kindergarten kicked off the night by singing and moving along to “Baby Bumblebee,” “Five Green and Speckled Frogs,” and “Mr. Sun.” 1st grade followed with “Watch Our Garden Grow,” “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain,” and “Oats and Beans and Barley Grow.” That first concert finished out with 2nd grade performing “Love Grows Under the Wild Oak Tree,” “On Top of Spaghetti,” and “Peace Like a River.”

The evening continued with our 3rd through 4th grade concert. The concert began with our 3rd graders singing “Fanga Alafia,” Ame Ame,” and “I Love the Mountains.”

The Beginning Band then wowed us with their amazing first year band talents. They played the songs “Bugler’s Dream,” and “Band Funk!,” and “Dragon Dance.” There were solos by some of our students. Greta Stinson played “The Star-Spangled Banner” on her trumpet. Rhys Hatch played “Ode to Joy” on his trumpet. Ray Gardner played “Seven Nation Army” on his saxophone.

The night ended with the 4th and 5th grade performance of “Bugz! - The Musical.” The sang “Goin’ On a Picnic,” “Be A Lady,” “Firefly,” “March of the Army Ants,” and “Things Change.”. There were solos performed by LoriLei Grout and Greta Stinson. The students did an amazing job with their lines and the songs. It was a truly fun show!

Throughout the concert there were student MCs. Thank you to our music teacher, Ashley Johnson, and our art teacher, Janelle Eddy, for a fabulous, fun-filled evening of music and art!
