ROCKPORT – The Pen Bay YMCA was bustling with activity Saturday afternoon as the North Atlantic Gymnastics Academy held a Mock Meet for the girls. In all thee were 19 girls from level three up to XcelGold.

The Academy is located at the Pen Bay YMCA in half of the gym and is owned and operated by Jonas and Stacey Contakos. The Academy has boys and girls gymnastic teams as well as recreational gymnastic classes that put about 300 children of all ages through the Academy every week.

Saturday the Academy put together a Mock Meet for the girls. The purpose of the meet was two fold, one it was part of a fund raiser for the Academy and a chance for the girls to learn the procedures of a meet and as Jonas said, "a place to make the mistakes you are going to make without it really mattering."

Of the 19 girls that competed nine are level 3, three are level 4, two level five, four level seven and one level XcelGold.

All 19 athletes competed in all four categories, Beam, Vault, Floor and uneven parallel bars. The top overall scores went to Ella Graffam in level 3 with a 36.20 and Whitney Dow, a level 7 with a score of 36.65. Levels four and up competed together.

Best on the beam was McKenna LaBrozzi, level 3 and Lauren Schenk, level 5 with 9.30; Vault, Dow, level 7 with a 9.10; Floor, Elise Condon and Graffam, both  level 3, 9.30; and bars, Condon, level 3 9.60.
