Merryspring holds summer tree identification walk, July 26

CAMDEN — Merryspring Nature Center will host a summer tree identification walk as part of its Free Family Fridays series on Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m.

Did you know Maine is the most forested state in the country? What are the different trees growing and how do you identify them?

“Tree identification can seem daunting to newcomers, but thankfully there are a few tips and tricks that anybody can understand to better identify Maine’s trees and shrubs,” said Merryspring, in a news release.

This walk for all ages will introduce beginners to identifying common backyard trees by both their leaves and bark. The group will walk some of the trails and explore Merryspring’s arboretum.

This program is outdoors. Guests must wear weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and be prepared to walk for one hour. Free Family Fridays take place at Merryspring on select July and August Fridays,at 10 a.m., and are sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.

Admission is free to all. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
