Laura Bonazzoli to hold writing program: What is a short-story cycle? Why write one?

CAMDEN — From Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge to Morgan Talty’s Night of the Living Rez, short-story cycles are an increasingly popular genre of fiction. But why? What exactly is a short-story cycle? What are its characteristics, and what advantages—and challenges—might it hold for readers?

And if you’re a fiction writer intrigued by the possibility of creating one, how might you begin?

Join Rockport author Laura Bonazzoli for a free program on this genre Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., in the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library.

Bonazzoli is the author of the short-story cycle Consecration Pond. Bonazzoli has also published short stories, essays, and poetry in dozens of literary magazines and in anthologies. She works as a freelance writer and editor for a variety of publishers, and teaches writing workshops.

Consecration Pond was published by indie press Toad Hall Editions in August 2022 and is available in bookstores. Signed copies will also be available at the event.
