Alisa Amador to perform at The Waldo, with special guests Katie Matzell duo on Saturday, June 29th at 7:30 pm

Join us in welcoming Alisa back to The Waldo! Her first visit to The Waldo was her FIRST Maine performance when she opened for Hiss Golden Messenger in 2022. And now, she's headlining!

The day Alisa Amador decided to walk away from her career in music was, ironically enough, the day her career truly began. Alisa Amador's decision to leave her music career led to unexpected success when she won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest. Two years later, she released her debut album "Multitudes," a blend of Spanish and English songs reflecting her journey of rediscovery and resilience. Recorded with co-producers Tyler Chester and Daniel Radin, the album features guest appearances from Gaby Moreno, Madison Cunningham, and Quinn Christopherson. Amador's upbringing in a family of Latin folk artists and her experiences as a touring solo artist inform her introspective and raw lyrics. Through songs like "Extraño" and "Woke Up Today," she explores themes of identity, belonging, and navigating life's challenges. The album title, "Multitudes," captures the complexity and depth of emotions woven throughout the record. And now, as Amador stands at the threshold of her most compelling chapter yet, it's the reason she's finally found where she belongs. As she embarks on this new chapter, Amador finds solace and purpose in her music.

Opening for Alisa is Katie Matzell, a singer-songwriter from Portland, Maine. She debuted her EP in 2018, garnering praise for her powerful vocals and soulful sound reminiscent of artists like Bonnie Raitt and Norah Jones. She was nominated for Female Performer of the Year at the New England Music Awards in 2018.
