Area chefs and businesses are sharing special recipes this season, as we all begin cooking up a storm. PenBayPilot.com is posting recipes and tips throughout the holidays. Enjoy!

Tis the Season for eggnog. The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop and Dave’s Old Fashioned Soda Fountain, together at 64 Main St. in Belfast, give us two sweet treats that fit perfectly into the holiday season, an Eggnog Milkshake and a Chocolate Peppermint Sundae.

Dawn Desmarais manages the shops that opened in 2011.

“We started making Eggnog Shakes Dec. 1,” said Desmarais. “It’s been very, very popular.”

    Eggnog Shake

    3 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
    1 cup Eggnog
    Pinch of cinnamon
    Dash of Nutmeg

Blend until smooth and pour into a tall glass. Top with whipped cream and a cherry. Sprinkle on a little nutmeg.

    Chocolate Peppermint Sundae

Put 1 generous scoop of Peppermint ice cream in a sundae glass.
    Spoon over the chocolate sauce.
Top with whip cream and add a cherry.
Place a peppermint stick in the sundae and serve.
