PORT CLYDE — Herring Gut Coastal Science Center marks its 25th Anniversary with a Community Ice Cream Social on Thursday, June 20, from 4-6 p.m. The event will be held at 59 Factory Road, Port Clyde, and all are invited to join in the festivities.

“For a quarter of a century, Herring Gut Coastal Science Center has been a beacon of education and community engagement along Maine's picturesque coastline,” said Herring Gut, in a news release. 

The Center, founded by Phyllis Wyeth, is a unique coastal science center with educational programs tailored to reach a wide range of audiences. The expanded programming satisfies the curiosity of Pre-K children all the way up through adults, according to Herring Gut.

“The anniversary celebration promises an afternoon filled with joy, nostalgia, and delicious treats,” said the release. “Attendees can indulge in a delectable array of ice cream flavors while mingling with fellow community members and reflecting on Herring Gut's remarkable journey over the past 25 years.”

In addition to marine themed ice cream exhibits, guests will have the opportunity to explore the center's facilities, learn about ongoing educational programs, and connect with staff and volunteers passionate about marine science and the marine trades.
