Georges River Land Trust debuts Nature Fest on July 25, 26

Thu, 06/13/2024 - 5:00pm

CUSHING — The Georges River Land Trust announces a new summer event: Nature Fest, a 2-day, immersive learning experience designed to bring the whole family closer to nature on July 25 and 26, from 8:30 -3:30 p.m., at the Langlais Art Preserve in Cushing. Attendees will select from 14 different sessions led by subject matter experts, including introductions to local fish and forests, backyard conservation with native plants, composting, and nature journaling. Kids will enjoy interacting with hunting dogs, landscaping goats and sea creatures in a tidal touch tank.

“If we want to protect the places we love and adapt to climate change, we must first get closer to the natural wonders in our watershed,” said Marie McNeely, Co-Director of the Georges River Land Trust,  in a news release. “Nature Fest offers topics that matter from people who inspire. And we couldn’t make this event possible without our business partners—First National Bank, Eastern Tire & Auto Service, Viking, Plants Unlimited, TREEKEEPERS, Maine Treekeepers, and Barley Joe Farm Greenhouse.”

Rebecca Jacobs, Program Manager at Knox-Lincoln County Soil & Water Conservation District, one of the event’s speakers will offer conservation consultation services: “Nature Fest is an opportunity for landowners to learn how they can increase biodiversity on their land, no matter the acreage.”
