WALDO — George W. Campbell, of Waldo, Maine passed away on July 4, 2024 peacefully and surrounded by his family.

George was born in Millinocket, Maine, son of Freeman T. Campbell, of Patten and Ruth Waite Campbell, of Millinocket. George grew up in the Head of the Tide neighborhood of Belfast, where he formed many treasured and lifelong friendships. He was a 1963 graduate of Crosby High School and completed Barber School in Lewiston in 1964.

For 60 years George served the community as a quintessential barber. He was renowned and beloved for his humor and master storytelling.

George married Brenda A. Miller on April 24, 1976, and they resided in Bayside Village of Northport before moving to Waldo in 2009. George and Brenda loved taking rides all over Waldo County, counting deer and enjoying one another’s company.

George was an avid outdoorsman who grew up hunting, fishing, canoeing, and enjoying rural Maine. He enjoyed time with his Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins in the Katahdin Region, especially Millinocket, having many special outdoor adventures with his friends, children, and special cousin Ted over the years.

George was a knowledgeable gun collector and competitive target shooter. He loved antique cars and playing horseshoes.

George was predeceased by his parents and sister Joyce. Surviving is his wife, Brenda; son Daren (Jennifer), son Stacey (Tamara), daughter Karen (Donald); and grandchildren Haden, Dshamilja, Kalil, Theresa, Melvin, and Campbell.

A potluck Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 14, at 1 p.m., at The Waldo Town Hall & Community Center.
