Native Plants: Facts, Myths – Everything in Between

Founder of Wild Seed Project to speak at Camden Garden Club meeting

CAMDEN — Camden Garden Club welcomes Heather McCargo, founder of the Wild Seed Project, Thursday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 33 Chestnut Street, Camden.

As a lead plant propagator in the early 1990s, McCargosaw firsthand the gatekeeping involved in native plant propagation. Native seed sowing requires care and attention, but with clear guidance – anyone could do this.

“Not in a lab or a greenhouse, but on back porches, balconies, and city stoops, anywhere, for anyone,” according to McCargo, in a Camden Garden Club news release.

She will discuss the basics about native seed collection and propagation, separating fact from myth.

“Time to get our hands in the dirt,” said the Garden Club. “All of us have to pay attention. McCargo is building a movement of citizen ecologists collectively taking action to restore our ecosystem.”

All are welcome to attend for this FREE event.
