ROCKPORT – The Five Town Little League softball team needed two games to get it done, but get it done they did with a 16-6 win over Lincoln County Thursday evening.

With the win the team will represent District 2 in the State 11-12 Softball Tournament. This year the tournament will be held in So. Berwick and Five Town plays its first game of the tournament Saturday, July 11 at 4 p.m. They will play Ellsworth who won the District 1 tournament.

After Lincoln County won Wednesday’s game, giving Five Town their first loss in the double elimination tournament the two teams met Thursday for the deciding game in the playoffs to crown a champion.

Five Town scored two runs in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Lincoln County plated two in the second and third, one in the fourth and fifth each.

The catalyst for the Five Town team was without a doubt Grace O’Connell who was 4-for-5 with a pair of singles, a double, triple, 4 runs scored and three RBIs. Combined with her solid defense at third base and O’Connell had an outstanding game to lead her team to victory. 

Olivia Brown pitched for Five Town allowing six runs on five hits and six walks with two strikeouts to pick up the win.

Grace Houghton pitched for Lincoln County allowing 16 runs, five earned on five hits and eight walks with nine strikeouts.

Offensively for the Five Town squad, Dani Cayouette (run), Logan Craney (2 runs), Haileigh Luce (single, 3 runs), Grace O’Connell (2 singles, double, triple, 3 RBIs, 4 runs), Brown (run, RBI), Miranda Dunton (run, RBI), Kat O’Brien (2 runs), and Olivia Ogier and Lily Clement (run each).

For Lincoln County, Houghton (single, run), Emily Kelsey (2 runs), Allison Mank (single, run), Katelyn Tozier (run), Maddie York (single), and Laticia Wright (double, run).

Five Town roster is, Olivia Brown, Dani Cayouette, Shakira Cayouette, Lili Clement, Caroline Contento, Logan Craney, Miranda Dunton, Haileigh Luce, Kat O'Brien, Grace O'Connell, Alexandra Southworth and Olivia Ogier. The team is coached by Vin Contento and coached by Mike Brown and Aaron Craney.

The Five Town team will start the tournament Saturday, July 11 at 4 p.m. in South Bristol.
