CAMDEN — Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) is offering three free evening classes in reading and singing music this summer. All classes are scheduled for Wednesdays at 7 p.m., in its meeting space at 58 Bayview Street #5 in Camden.

The first class, focusing on rhythm and tempo, will be held on July 24. The second class, on July 31, will focus on the musical staff and finding pitch. A final class on August 7 will provide an opportunity to learn, read and practice dynamics and musical articulation. At the end of each class, participants will apply their skills to practice and sing a popular piece of music together.

All members of the public are welcome, regardless of age, experience, or ability.

"Powerful things happen when we sing together in community. We believe everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard," said James Cook, MCC Board Chair. "Our mission is to offer a supportive environment for anyone who wants to sing, and these classes are a good way for us to do that work."

Midcoast Community Chorus is the largest non-auditioned choral group in Central Maine, and welcomes new chorus members at all levels of experience to join its ranks when it begins a new season of rehearsals in September 2024.  For more information about MCC, email info@mccsings.org, call 207-706-9693, or visit the MCC website, www.mccsings.org.
