Lawrence Hollins has been appointed as the new publisher of Down East magazine, effective immediately.

“This appointment marks a significant step forward for the magazine, promising continued excellence and innovation in serving our readers and customers,” said Down East, in a July 10, 2024 news release. “Lawrence joined Down East in 2007 as a member of the advertising staff and quickly demonstrated exceptional leadership, resulting in his promotion to advertising director. His ascent continued as he took on the role of director of business development in 2019. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed associate publisher, a position he has filled admirably.”

Lawrence is a resident of Northport, where he lives on a farm with his wife, Ina, and their children, Thomas and Iris.

“Lawrence’s journey through the ranks of Down East has been marked by a steadfast dedication and a clear vision for the future of our magazine,” said Bob Fernald, president, CEO, and former publisher of Down East. “His leadership comes at a critical time when the industry is evolving rapidly. I am confident that Lawrence is the ideal leader to take Down East to new heights, building on our legacy of excellence.”

Under his guidance, Down East is set to continue its tradition of delivering compelling content that celebrates the uniqueness of Maine and its communities, said the magazine. Lawrence’s deep understanding of the business, combined with his innovative approach to development and expansion, will ensure that Down East remains at the forefront of the publishing industry.
