LINCOLNVILLE — Trevor Paul will discuss “Behind the Great Wall: Living in the People’s Republic of China” on Wednesday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m., at Lincolnville Community Library, 208 Main Street, Lincolnville 207-706-3896.

Over the course of three years, spread across multiple visits and jobs, Trevor Paul lived all over China, sometimes alone and sometimes leading groups of students on their own experiences there. So, what are the people of China really like, and what sort of country and culture would you encounter while you are there? Paul will talk about his relationships with various people and tell stories of his life as a resident and visitor to his second home in the People’s Republic of China. Paul’s extensive photo collection will accompany his talk.

Trevor H. Paul was born and raised in Maine, with a brief interlude in Massachusetts to attend Wheaton College, but after three years of teaching in Falmouth, he relocated to Tianjin in the People’s Republic of China. Paul worked as a history and English teacher, as well as an administrator, for a private school in Tianjin for two years before taking a teaching job at Hebron Academy. There, Paul continued to visit China as a trip leader, education consultant, and classroom teacher up until 2019.

“Come hear about Trevor’s experience and the reality of the PRC from someone who lived there,” said the Library, in a news release.

Paul also writes novels, three of which are available online and at the LCL. He currently lives in Lincolnville with his wife, Molly, and their son, Caleb.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
